August 3, 2017 Meeting
 
President Al Gagg called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. and we proceeded to say the Pledge of Allegiance, Four Way Test and George offered a blessing.
 
The Secretary's report followed, offered by Margaret:

Make ups - None - on 07.27.2017 Dan reported a make-up at the Hartford Club, which included a tour of the Goodwin Hotel 
 
Missing Badges - None
 
Vacations - Bill for the annual family Oswego trip.
 
Birthdays & Anniversaries - Anniversary: Mark celebrates his 50th wedding Anniversary on the 6th.
 
Happy Dollars - Bill: has singles, so no head whack!; Margaret: did not get selected for a jury; Denise: spoke with a councilman from East Longmeadow who commented that she had been there for a year and he noted her accomplishments in that time; Just Because: Margaret
 
Sad/Unhappy Dollars -  None.
 
New, special, other - Dave: shared his photos from his recent vacation out to the west - thanks for the slideshow: Bill, George and Margaret; Dan: has a new sister-in-law sooner than expected, but the big wedding is still on.
 
Secretary's Wild Card (or whatever color shirt George is wearing applied to shirt, blouse, pants, skirt, dress)- saw the photo/report of the car in W. Suffield on Wednesday, suspended in the air, balancing on its rear bumper by downed electrical wires: Earle, Dave, Dan, Bill, Al, George, Ray and Margaret.
 
Leaving Early -  None - just like a great mystery novel, you'll miss out if you don't make it to the last page.
 
Publicity - None.
 
Late Meeting - Al owes a dollar for a late meeting.
 
Speaker - Dave and Denise gave a slideshow presentation on their trip to Wyoming and South Dakota.
 
Future Speakers: Chris Corkum in the fall (Denise), George is working on Bill McGurk for the Fall, DG has been invited for 9/14 or 9/28.

  1. Proposed Activities by Month:
    August:                   Back to School Supplies - Youth Service                       -Margaret - $250 budget -getting list from Town.
                                  Annual Sponsorships                - Club Service               -Earle and Denise - please provide Earle with a list of any businesses to       receive the sponsorship mailing and please include a contact person.
    September              16th President’s Picnic                 - Club Service               -Bill, his house 2:00 to 6:00p - rain or shine.
                                  23rd Community Day                  - Club Service               -Popcorn & Water - Margaret and Denise
    October                  7th Wine Tasting                        -Club Service                -Dan/Dave/Pete L. - John submitted history of John Deere tractors; Dave spoke to the 250th Committee and they will have a booth; Dan spoke about sponsorship packages; will track annual sponsorships separately from Wine Tasting event.
                                  Dictionary Project                      - Youth Service              - Cathi
    2.    Benches for Veteran's Park - Denise checked with Commission to confirm they'd like a total of three benches and we can determine the dedications; likely Bob Watts, all Rotary veterans and all East Windsor veterans.
        3.     Speakers Assignments– August- Dan; September -  John; October – Bill; November: Pete L.; December: Cathi & Peter; January – Mark; February –Earle; March: George; April: Ray; May – Dave and Denise; and June – Al and Margaret.
 
        4. District Grants - Margaret spoke to Barbara Sherman and town is trying to figure out how to accept our donation of materials for the bridge project. Denise said she would be willing to help out.

50/50 -  Bill won.

Club installs new officers
On June 29, 2017, the Rotary Club of East Windsor inducted officers for the year 2017-2018 which begins on July 1, 2017. Pictured, from left to right, are Dan Tarbell, Vice President, Al Gagg, President, John Bajumpaa, Treasurer (acting along with Bill Kinsley) and Margaret Byrne, Secretary (acting along with Dan Tarbell). Absent from the photo are Treasurer Bill Kinsley, members at large, Board of Directors, Cathi Campbell and Peter Larese and Sergeant at Arms Peter Campbell. Under President Al's leadership, the club looks forward to contributing to the East Windsor community.
