The Monthly Happening for July of 2018
June of 2018 ended on a sad note for our club. We said farewell to a beloved member, Cathi Campbell. Her smile, sense of humor and efforts put forth in so many club activities will be missed. One project especially close to Cathi's heart was the dictionary project. Cathi had chaired that program for several years. In doing so, she had ordered the books, inserted a plaque and delivered the dictionaries to every third grade student in the East Windsor School system. In his eulogy Peter spoke of how much Cathi enjoyed being a Rotarian. He noted that Cathi didn't lose her battle, rather she had spent her time making memories with her family and friends. What wonderful and fun memories we all have from spending time with Cathi and enjoying her company.
Dale Nelson moves to Florida
Unfortunately for us, but happily for Dale and Cliff, they moved to Florida. One of the wittiest people and a volunteer in every sense of the word, Dale attended some of our meetings and supported our projects even though she was not able to be a member of the club. She was selfless in her efforts and we will miss Cliff and her very much. All the same, we wish them the best down south; just look out for alligators.

Happy Dollar Highlights for the month
Dan, Earle (and everyone in the club, including Mary) - Kennedy came home after a very long stay at Boston Children's Hospital; and the family moved into their new home in Longmeadow, Massachusetts. Kennedy is looking wonderful, full of energy and settling into her new surroundings. They have been through so much since Kennedy came into the world, but they are a strong family and we're all so happy for them. Also of note, since her birth, Kennedy has been one of the biggest fundraisers for Happy Dollars in the club.
Pete Larese (and everyone in the club) - Pete is back and feeling great.
Cathi - one of her last wishes was to hand over her final Happy Dollars ($500.00) and Peter did that and we were all very thankful.
Denise - Dale and Cliff moved to their home in Florida; she has been able to spend time with her daughter Dawn and traveled with Dawn and Dave. Also, she had quite the experience at the 4th of July fireworks display in East Longmeadow and Dave agreed.
The club - celebrated Early beginning his year as President and thanked Al for doing such a great job for the prior year.
George - shared his new leg with us.

Ray - happy to make it to a meeting.
Margaret - happy/sad about Tex, the poodle. He underwent surgery, but he is still retaining fluid. He is a tough little guy.
Sad Dollars
Bill, Earle and John - missing Dave.
Earle (and many) - Buddy passed away, he was a great dog.

Business of the Club
With the new year comes a focus on membership. If you are reading this and presently aren't a member, perhaps you'd like to consider joining. Please know that you are very welcome to attend any of our meetings. We meet on Thursdays at 6:30 p.m. at the Nutmeg Restaurant, Rte. 5, East Windsor, CT.
Committee Chairs - if anyone is interested in chairing an event this year, let Earle know.
Presently we are working on the Wine Tasting. Dan and John are co-chairing that event. It will be held on September 29th, so please save the date.
Denise is working on a Business After Hours event and Earle is coordinating with Jim Richards to invite new businesses in town to attend one our meetings to consider membership in Rotary and the Chamber.
Margaret is working on the Back to School supplies and we have been approved for our District Grant, so we will be providing support to the East Windsor Library for licenses for continuing education subscriptions and putting together a career fair.
Speakers - we are always looking for interesting speakers for our meetings. If you would like to join us for dinner and let us know a bit about your business or profession, please let us know.
