President Al Gagg called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. and we proceeded to say the Pledge of Allegiance, Four Way Test and George offered a blessing.
The Secretary's report followed, offered by Margaret:

Make ups - None - on 07.27.2017 Dan reported a make-up at the Hartford Club, which included a tour of the Goodwin Hotel

Birthdays & Anniversaries - Anniversary: Mark and Nancy celebrated their 50th wedding Anniversary on the 6th and we sang.
Happy Dollars - George - for guests, joined by Bill and Margaret; Denise - Just Because; George - Hawaiian Night, Margaret agreed; Dave - Mom getting a pacemaker and going home by Saturday; Denise - visited with Dave's mom; Dave - went to Dan and Nicki's to take photos and saw the nursery, Dan, Denise and Pete L. agree.
Sad/Unhappy Dollars -  None.
New, special, other - Dan: New pictures.
Secretary's Wild Card (or whatever color shirt George is wearing applied to shirt, blouse, pants, skirt, dress)-Hawaiian/Summer Party Shirt Night - those not appropriately attired paid a $1.00: Al, Mark, Bill, Pete L., Dan, John, Ray and  Dave.
Leaving Early -  None - just like a great mystery novel, you'll miss out if you don't make it to the last page.
Publicity - None.
Late Meeting - None.
Speaker - Our guests told us a little bit about themselves. Femy does maintenance and landscaping work. Kelly is a loan officer with Norcom.
Future Speakers: Chris Corkum in the fall (Denise), George is working on Bill McGurk for the Fall, DG has been invited for 9/14 or 9/28.

  1. Proposed Activities by Month:
    August:                   Back to School Supplies - Youth Service                       -Margaret - $250 budget -got list from Town.
                                  Annual Sponsorships                - Club Service               -Earle and Denise - please provide Earle with a list of any businesses to       receive the sponsorship mailing and please include a contact person.Denise brought in the sample letter.
    September              16th President’s Picnic                 - Club Service               -Bill, his house 2:00 to 6:00p - rain or shine. Inviting Pam and Tony, Dale, Jason, Ellie and Jo.
                                  23rd Community Day                  - Club Service               -Popcorn & Water - Margaret and Denise
    October                  7th Wine Tasting 1 pm to 5 pm     -Club Service                -Dan/Dave/Pete L. - John submitted history of John Deere tractors; Dave spoke to the 250th Committee and they will have a booth; Dan spoke about sponsorship packages; will track annual sponsorships separately from Wine Tasting event. Joe S. is handling the food - all pre-cooked. Website will be up shortly.

    2.    Benches for Veteran's Park - Denise checked with Commission to confirm they'd like a total of three benches and we can determine the dedications; likely Bob Watts, all Rotary veterans and all East Windsor veterans. Bill pulled up the last designs and Commission will do foundations.
        3.     Speakers Assignments– August- Dan; September -  John; October – Bill; November: Pete L.; December: Cathi & Peter; January – Mark; February –Earle; March: George; April: Ray; May – Dave and Denise; and June – Al and Margaret.
        4. District Grants - Margaret spoke to Barbara Sherman and DEEP has approved club to purchase supplies and have them delivered.
        5. President Elect - District is looking for the name of our President Elect.
        6. East Windsor Hunger Action Team Power Pack Specific Food Drive - Margaret will bring to the board.

Club honors Andy Hoffman as Citizen of the Year
Andy Hoffman, 2017 East Windsor Rotary Citizen of the Year



On June 15, 2017, the Rotary Club of East Windsor honored well known, and well respected, resident Andy Hoffman as its Citizen of the Year. A pioneer in space travel design, Mr. Hoffman served on the original Hamilton team to develop Apollo spacesuit and served on the Apollo 13 Recovery Team. He retired as an executive from Hamilton Sundstrand. Even though he spent a tremendous amount of time dedicated to his profession, he found opportunities to volunteer with civic organizations, as well as town government. Not to mention, he has enjoyed a long lasting marriage with his wife Pat. Proclamations from the State Legislature, as well as the Town of East Windsor, recited his many accomplishments over the years. It was a pleasure and honor for the club to bestow this title upon Mr. Hoffman; he is a great example of service above self.
